Erotic Fiction: The Pearl Trilogy by Arianne Richmonde

Tuesday, 23 April, 2013

The Pearl Trilogy by Arianne Richmondeis the kind of erotic fiction I can’t get enough of.  If you are looking for the antidote for the Fifty Shades of Grey series than this book trilogy is especially for you!  I loved these 3 books.  Both characters were extremely likable and I especially enjoyed the chemistry between these two!

The series is all about Pearl Robinson (yes she is called Ms. Robinson), a beautiful and successful film producer in her forties who hooks up with a handsome and charming billionaire fifteen years younger than her. He’s called Alexandre Chevalier, and he made his fortune co-founding an online co with his sister, Sophie. Pearl and Alexandre hit it off immediately after meeting in a coffee shop.

You’ll love the series too if you believe a woman doesn’t have to be in her early twenties to find love and passion.

The main attraction here is that Pearl is so true to life. Many reviewers on Amazon and elsewhere say she goes through the same life struggles we all talk about with our own girlfriends. What a change from the twenty year old virgins in other erotic novels. They make it look like acquiring a life partner and a high powered career is about as easy as ordering a salad.

As for Alexandre I found him so sexy.  Are there any men out there really like him I kept asking myself?  Alexandre is an alpha male who is just so hot and yet he also has respect and consideration for his woman.  Such a relief to read erotica where the sex is steamy and there is not any overtly kinky and bdsm themes to be had!

The relationship between Pearl and Alexandre is all the more poignant because it helps her to recover from a disappointing first marriage. She awakens sexually and finds her true self. Richmonde knows how to write amazing sex scenes readers want and deliver an inspiring message for women of any age. Pearl has her insecurities, but she also has the strength to lead her own life instead of dwelling in the shadow of a strong male.

Before you start worrying that you don’t have time to read three books, let me assure you they all get finished way to quickly. The momentum never lets up. Forty Shades of Pearl, the first installment, starts out like a fairy tale. Things get darker in part two, Shadows of Pearl, and the cliffhanger ending will send you racing for the final installment, Shimmers of Pearl. The conclusion is very satisfying but not at all what you would expect.

Arianne Richmonde is an American writer who has traveled all over the world. Along with her French husband, she currently divides her time between France and the United States. She describes herself as an author of contemporary romance fiction for adults and a lover of dark chocolate, champagne and all things French.

Erotic Fiction Guest Blog: Arianne Richmonde, Author of the Forty Shades of Pearl Trilogy

After writing book one of The Pearl Trilogy, Forty Shades of Pearl, something struck me. Obviously I read people’s reviews on Amazon (both positive and ‘negative’) as they can be very useful and I do take note of what readers say. I can’t please everyone but I do use criticism as an aid to my work rather than a hindrance. Most reviews have been extremely positive.

However, what I began to understand was that some younger readers have a very clear idea in their heads about how forty year olds are. My heroine, Pearl, being forty (and quite typical in my opinion) is insecure about herself. Although she is very beautiful and sexy and carries herself with outward confidence, she has crow’s feet and has to worry about hiding those telltale grey hairs with her Honey Blonde 8.3! So she doesn’t see herself as others see her. Sound familiar ladies? Not to mention how she feels about falling in love with a man fifteen years her junior…she is taken completely by surprise and feels ill equipped to deal with such powerful emotions.

Some readers believe that forty year-olds should have everything worked out by then and that Pearl’s insecurity is unrealistic. They assume that a woman of that age would be far more confident than Pearl, self-assured and not so doubtful. I feel both delighted and worried for these women. Delighted that they see older women as having all the answers and sad that, poor things, may have a few surprises waiting for them in the future. Getting older can be tough!

Pearl’s insecurities are manifested mostly by her inner dialogue (and some of her choices in book two, Shadows of Pearl). Indeed, they threaten to be her downfall. But so many older women do identify with her as they have been there. The gremlin that sits on your back and says you aren’t good enough, that time has passed you by, that youth is revered, not wisdom.

We see evidence of this everywhere. Why are fashion magazines full of nineteen year-old models when no nineteen year-old could possibly afford the sorts of outfits these girls are modeling? Because youth is worshipped in our society. All this is very real to a lot of women: feeling we are not good enough, not thin enough, not rich enough. I have friends who are stunningly beautiful with great jobs but who still feel unsure of themselves.

When I read about some young woman in her twenties feeling awkward about herself in a book, I think…why? Simply because I was pretty cocky in my twenties. I had all the answers, I knew where I was going (I didn’t but I thought I did)! In fact, I did read a novel recently where the woman, a 42-year-old doctor, was very sensible and I found her rather dull and boring!

I am thrilled that so many women can identify with Pearl. There was one review I loved. It was very short but said: “All women should read Forty Shades of Pearl. If you aren’t 40 yet you will be someday.”

A Healthy Detox Diet Works Better Than Searching For Miracle Foods

Friday, 19 April, 2013

Dr. Fuhrman
If you’re trying to find a healthy detox diet, you’ve probably seen popular talk shows and even news reports raving about the latest miracle foods. Unfortunately, these claims are usually exaggerated and based on a single study. The truth is that it’s your diet as a whole that matters when it comes to losing weight, and reducing your risk for cancer and heart disease.

I know this because I’ve been following Dr. Joel Fuhrman’s advice for years now. He puts the focus on eating a balanced diet of nutrient rich foods rather than telling people that all they need to do is eat more red onions. No one food will solve all your problems, but getting most of your calories from a variety of super foods will improve your health. A big part of this plan is green vegetables. In fact, raw and cooked vegetables should represent about half of your total diet. Some of the best choices are kale, watercress, collard, mustard and turnip greens, bok choy, spinach and Brussels sprouts.

Dr. Fuhrman is a board-certified family physician and a NY Times best-selling author who can help you learn to eat better. You may want to start out by picking up a copy of his book Eat to Live. Ready to learn more? Here’s a Free shippingcoupon code for Dr. Fuhrman.

Erotic Fiction Review: Beautiful Bastard by Christina Lauren

Wednesday, 17 April, 2013

Office life heats up in the erotic fiction novel Beautiful Bastard by Christina Lauren. Chloe Mills is locked in a love-hate relationship with her boss, Bennett Ryan. Well, at least it’s a lust-hate relationship with the potential for true love.

Chloe is a smart, hard-working career woman who has taken her father’s advice to start at the bottom and work her way up. She’s been interning at Ryan Media for the past six years, and now she’s just months away from completing her MBA. Then, the drop dead gorgeous Bennett returns to the family business. She thinks he’s pompous and evil, but she can’t stop thinking about the time she saw him wiping his bare chest with his shirt when she walked in on him at a hotel gym. He’s secretly attracted to her even though he constantly gives her a hard time and calls her an “office girl.”

They finally get together on the conference room table one night when he makes her work late to polish up a speech. Somehow they manage to keep exchanging insults even while they’re getting it on, and Chloe literally runs out and leaves Bennett with his pants down. Even though they both swear they want to stop, they keep having sex everywhere imaginable around the office until Bennett has a drawer full of her La Perla panties. That’s right. There’s no BDSM here, but Bennett rips her underwear off every chance he gets. Some complications come up when Bennett gets jealous when his mother tries to fix Chloe up with a family friend, and when Chloe suspects that Bennett is trying to take credit for her work. Still, this is a novel that makes erotica fun and it never becomes too dark.

Light-Hearted Erotica

In fact, the light touch is one of the things that make this novel so enjoyable. It’s nice to read sexy scenes without keeping an eye out for some deranged sibling who might take a shot at the unsuspecting couple. Here, you can relax and savor the witty dialogue without worrying about anyone dropping a deep dark secret. The creative sex around the workplace is also pretty stimulating. Chloe and Bennett do it everywhere including the conference room, the elevator, the stairwell and up against the windows.

Interestingly, Christina Lauren is actually one pen name being used by two different writers working together, Christina Hobbs and Lauren Billings. Hobbs started the story back in 2009 when it was called The Office and published it online as Twilight fan fiction. The next year, it grew in popularity as Fifty Shades Of Grey swept the country, and women were looking for more erotica. A sequel is already in the works that will be called Beautiful Stranger and star Chloe’s best friend. Beautiful Bastard itself is scheduled to become a movie now that Constantin Film has purchased the rights to it.

Dr. Fuhrman Talks About Detox Diet Programs and More on Dr. Oz- How Your Diet Can Strengthen Your Immune System

You may have seen Dr. Fuhrman during his latest appearance on the Dr. Oz show earlier this month where he has talked about detox diet programs and more. His healthy approach to weight loss through nutrient dense foods is just what women need to stay physically and sexually fit.

Dr. Fuhrman

This time around, the two physicians provided lots of simple diet changes that can boost your immune system and reduce your chances of getting sick. They talked about simple food rules that help you feel more energetic, lose weight and live longer. You can watch the episode on the Dr. Oz website and visit Dr. Fuhrman’s site to learn more about all his methods.

There are two things I especially wanted to share about this topic. As a mother myself, I hope to raise my daughter to avoid many of the health issues I had to learn about the hard away. While you’re discovering Dr. Fuhrman’s recommendations for yourself, you may also want to check out his book Disease-Proof Your Child: Feeding Kids Right. On a lighter note, how about a recipe for a chocolate cake that’s good for the whole family? Here’s Dr. Joel Fuhrman’s Never-Get-Sick chocolate cake. It’s a delicious introduction to his philosophy on how to eat and live better.

Find Out More About The Point of No Return Program and Fresh Start Detox Diet From PEERtrainer

In case you’re wondering, it makes a lot of sense to talk about a detox diet in a women’s sexual health forum. If you want to look and feel your best, you have to rid your body of toxins, take off any excess pounds and develop healthy eating habits you will want to maintain for life. These are two affordable programs that will help you do just that.

The Point of No Return may sound like the title for a BDSM thriller, but right now I’m talking about a 12 week weight loss and coaching program from PEERtrainer. The program’s name refers to its ability to get people to the point where they can stick to a sensible diet or get back on track quickly even if they have occasional lapses. And the whole thing is just $77. If other diet programs have drained your wallet and let you down, you’ll find that this one delivers what you need to lose weight and feel fantastic.

While you’re at it, you may want to start out with the Fresh Start detox diet, also from PEERtrainer. Watch the video on their website to find out why this is so different from other cleanse and detox programs. You’ll see how it gets rid of toxins without harming your body the way extreme regimens can do. I believe that these two programs from the amazing team of Jackie Wicks and Joshua Wayne can help many women even if other diets haven’t worked.

Fifty Shades Freed By E. L. James

Friday, 22 March, 2013

Shades of Momma Rating:

Fifty Shades of Grey by E. L. James revolutionized women’s erotica, and the revolution continues with the third installment, Fifty Shades Freed. Hold onto your handcuffs. Ana and Christian get married. Of course, there are a lot of twists along the way, and the torrid sex scenes keep on flowing.

The third book opens with the couple enjoying a luxurious European honeymoon, but the calm doesn’t last for long. Ana’s ex-boss, Jack Hyde, is up to no good. He’s still seething over Christian taking his publishing house and putting Ana in charge. It also doesn’t help that Ana rebuffed his advances. When Jack resorts to a kidnapping, you’re left wondering whether Ana will be able to foil his plot or if Jack will succeed in spoiling everything.

There are also dangers closer to home. Ana is still struggling with her feelings about the many other women in Christian’s past. Christian has some explaining to do, especially when it comes to Elena. She’s the older woman who got him started on BDSM.

Despite all this, Ana and Christian take the first steps towards starting a family of their own. Hard to believe that Anna and Christian could go for the happy family ending. The epilogue paints a surprising picture of what the future has in store. And through it all the hot sex continues indoors and outdoors, on dry land and under water.

Erotic Fiction That Celebrates Marriage

Who would have thought that the Fifty Shades of Grey series would wind up celebrating marriage and the possibility of parenthood? Then again, these books are written for a wide variety of women so it makes sense that they could encompass all kinds of experiences from BDSM to being married with kids. It’s even nicer to see an affirmation that one woman can venture into different worlds rather than getting caught up in stereotyping people. BDSM practitioners may have loving relationships, and suburban married couples may be getting up to all kinds of things that you would never expect.

One final word of warning, the whole Fifty Shades experience is a great read if you’re looking for something sizzling that will rev up your libido. On the other hand, it’s easy to see why people make fun of the writing. If you can overlook the repetitive wording and silly stuff like rubbing noses, you’ll have a very good time and maybe even come away with some new ideas to try out with your own husband.

More Erotic Books By E. L. James: Fifty Shades Darker

Shades of Momma Rating: [rating=5]

If you read erotic books, go on the internet or read the paper occasionally, you already know about the Fifty Shades Of Grey sequels by E. L. James. Fifty Shades Darker is the second installment. Of course, after soaked up the first Fifty Shades, I ran out and bought the second book. Once again it is a mixed bag. This is a fun and juicy story even if the writing is not so hot.

First, let’s get the usual complaints out of the way. No one is saying this is a work of great literary value, but it is entertaining. Judging by the sales, a lot of women have no trouble overlooking clumsy syntax, multiple references to the inner goddess, and characters that bite their lips and sigh a lot. Women buy it and read it because it delivers what they want.

About the sex, it’s steamy and abundant but not all that different from what you’d find in other women’s erotica. While the BDSM theme has been gathering a lot of attention, it’s relatively gentle in how it’s getting acted out. It’s not like anyone needs to go the emergency room after every tryst.

Women’s Erotica With A Softer Side

In fact, one of the striking differences between the second installment and the first in this women’s erotica series is that the sex is noticeably more affectionate. Sure, there’s still the Red Room of Pain but the relationship between Ana and Christian is taking a new course. Christian is less hung up on getting Ana to sign a contract and more open to a little give and take. That’s not to say he’s not still controlling, but he’s making some changes.

You’re better off reading the first book before this one because it gives a lot of background. This one starts off with Ana briefly breaking up with Christian and joining a Seattle publishing house. However, Christian soon buys the publishing company and wins Ana back. The dramatic complications include Ana’s ex-boss Jack who’s angry about losing Ana and the company. There’s also a “Mrs. Robinson” type older woman who introduced Christian to BDSM and other women from his past, like a jealous ex-submissive who trashes Ana’s car and may be planning worse things now that she’s got a gun.

Besides all that, one of the best parts of this book is those changes that Christian is making. He actually starts opening up a little, talking with Ana about his past and how it has affected him. It makes you understand them both better and look forward to the next episode in Fifty Shades.

Part I of the Women’s Erotica This Man Trilogy: This Man by Jodi Ellen Malpas

This Man, Erotic Fiction

Shades of Momma Rating: [rating=5]

If you thought Christian Grey was the most controlling man you ever read about in women’s erotica, get ready for Jesse Ward. First time author Jodi Ellen Malpas introduces a man you may hate and love in spite of yourself in the first part of her trilogy, This Man.

Ava O’Shea is a successful 26 year old interior designer who is just getting over the breakup of a four year relationship. She’s not expecting to find love when she goes for an initial consultation for a decorating job at The Manor owned by Jesse Ward. When she meets the handsome playboy who knows no boundaries, she realizes she should run, but she can’t shake her attraction to him. In the end, it almost doesn’t matter how she feels because Jesse is determined to have her, and he’ll stop at nothing.

Even though Jesse’s behavior is so extreme it would meet the legal definition of stalking, it’s not like Ava is any pushover herself. She stands up to Jesse and instigates her fair share of conflicts, but she can’t bring herself to walk away no matter how dysfunctional their relationship gets. The power struggle and sexual chemistry between them is so intense you may wind up sitting on the edge of your bed to read this one.

Lots of readers say that they understand Ava’s reaction because they have many of the same feelings about Jesse. His domineering ways are frustrating, but he also has a definite appeal. It’s clear that he loves Ava according to his own fashion. He just does not know how to express his feelings or communicate openly. You wind up being angry sometimes but sympathizing with him too.

Maybe Even Hotter Than 50 Shades of Grey

As far as the sex scenes go, this novel may be even hotter than 50 Shades of Grey. It’s just as steamy, and the details are often more realistic so it’s easier to get caught up in the mood. It’s especially exciting when Ava and Jesse play this game where they give different acts different names like “the retribution” and “the truth.” Read it and you’ll see for yourself.

The author has no problem with her work being compared to 50 Shades. In one interview she said that she doesn’t see much similarity between the two books except for the dominant male. On the other hand, she thinks that E. L. James deserves a medal for opening up a new world for millions of women…I agree!

Jodi Ellen Malpas lives with her husband, two sons and a Beagle in the Midlands, UK. She worked in her family’s construction business for much of her life until her writing became a full time occupation. She says that the character of Ava is a bit like herself in real life, and she plans to keep writing more stories about sex and love.
